Assam: Principal of Kuruwa Higher Secondary School Lipika Barua Passes Away

MANGALDAI: As many as 4,000 grief stricken mourners including teachers, students and cross section of greater Kuruwa in Darrang district on Monday offered their last homage to Lipika Barua (Tutu) Principal of Kuruwa Higher Secondary School who breathed her last in a private hospital in Guwahati in the wee hours on Monday. She was 52. She was suffering from cancer.

Late Lipika Barua, second daughter of eminent educationist Late Khargeswar Barua was also the former president of Darrang Zila Sahitya Sabha of Shankar Nagar here in Mangaldai. She as the Principal of Kuruwa Higher Secondary School earned a high reputation and respect not only from her colleagues and students but also from all sections of the society for her humble nature and dedication to her profession.

She left behind her husband Hitesh Deka of Block Chowk here and a son and a daughter. Her mortal remains were consigned to flames as per vedic rituals at the public crematorium at Upahupara on Monday afternoon in presence of a large number of mourners, relatives and well wishers
