

LUMDING: In a bizarre incident, a man attempted to kill his wife by slitting her throat. The incident took place in the Lumding region of Assam.
The incident took place in the Accounts Colony locality of Lumding where Anurag Yadav tried to murder his wife Rani Kumari Yadav. The accused Anurag Yadav is said to be a resident of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.
According to the police, Rani Kumari Yadav is the daughter of one Meena Yadav who works in the Lumding Railway Hospital. Rina Kumari Yadav and Anurag Yadav were on a visit to the residence of Meena Kumari.
Soon after his mother-in-law left for work, Anurag Yadav tried to murder his wife as no one else was around at home. He slit her throat with a sharp weapon and fled soon after committing the crime.
Rani Kumar Yadav was later shifted to the Lumding Railway Hospital. She is said to be in a very fragile condition by the doctors. Meanwhile, the Lumding Police arrived at the hospital and took stock of her health conditions and initiated an investigation regarding the matter.
Previously, The Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) in a joint operation seized 5 kg of contraband drugs from a train and apprehended two persons at Lumding railway station in Nagaon district. T Boro, an official of GRP Lumding said that during the joint operation, they recovered nine packets of ganja weighing about 5 kg from the Kanchanjunga train. “We have recovered the ganja in possession from two women. The train was coming from Agartala. We have apprehended two women who are hailing from Bihar,” the police official said.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered by GRP Lumding. Further investigation is underway. The Assam Police, on Saturday, launched an operation to catch drug peddlers and apprehended two persons. It also seized a massive quantity of contraband drugs worth Rs 16 crore.
