DOOMDOOMA: Under the auspices of Elora Vigyan Mancha (EVM), Doomdooma Branch and Doomdooma Sakha Sahitya Sabha (DSSS), a commemorative meeting on the occasion of the second death anniversary of Bipin Hazarika, former MLA of Sadiya and a veteran CPI (M) leader who donated his body posthumously for the benefit of medical science, was organized on Tuesday in the conference hall of DSSS with Jhikananda Borgohain, president of EVM, in the chair.

The programme got underway with lighting of lamp before the portrait of Bipin Hazarika by Arjun Baruah, president of DSSS. Two close associates of Hazarika - Maneswar Barman, former Principal, Digboi College, and Prakash Rajkhowa, veteran trade union leader, enlightened the audience about selfless dedication for the cause of the peasants and workers to strengthen the very foundation of democracy. In reference, they pointed out the undemocratic and anti-labour policies of the Modi government.
