Krishi Vigyan Kendra organized capacity-building programme for farmers in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH: Romai based Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dibrugarh under Lahoal Development Block of Dibrugarh conducted a capacity-building programme for the farmers of Tingkhong area at No.2 Kenduguri.

The subject of the programme was 'Enhancing income and profit in crop production'. It was organized by the Kendra in association with Ashurya Agro-Producers Company Limited, a Farmers Producer Company promoted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dibrugarh. Opening remark was given by Ajoy Bailung, Board of Director of Ashurya Agro-Producers Company Limited.

The course director of the programme, Hemchandra Saikia, a Subject Matter Specialist in Agricultural Economics of KVK Dibrugarh, urged all the participant farmers to adopt location-specific improved technology and cultivation practice as per the recommendation of agricultural experts.

Saikia mentioned various tips for enhancing productivity and profit-like selection of crop or variety, land selection, land preparation, seed treatment, time of cultivation and other inter-cultural operations, fertility management, pest and disease control measures, crop rotation, changing of seed or variety at given interval etc. from crop cultivation across 12 months of a year.

The programme was conducted with due support of Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Guwahati and the Directorate of Extension Education Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, Assam. Altogether 23 participant farmers successfully attended the programme.
