National Poshan Month underway in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR: With the view to improve the nutritional status of children, pregnant women and adolescent girls, under the guidance of the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare, Government of India and the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Assam and in collaboration with the Sivasagar District Administration, National Poshan Month-2022 was inaugurated in Sivasagar on September 3.

The month-long event from September 1 to 30 was inaugurated by the newly joined Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar Aditya Vikram Yadav by lighting a lamp at the conference hall of Sivasagar Zila Parishad.

In his inaugural address, the deputy commissioner called upon all the concerned departments to engage in proper implementation of Poshan Month and activities to eradicate malnutrition and anaemia from the society.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner in charge of Social Welfare Department Chandana Baruah, Additional Deputy Commissioner in charge of Health Department Dr Mondira Baruah, Health Officer Dr Pradip Barman, Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Senior Scientist Dr Pradip Handique.
