Social worker Premendra Sarma passes away in Tinsukia

Premendra Sarma, an active social worker and retired forest range officer of Timber Treatment & Seasoning (TT&S) Plant Makum breathed his last at his Digboi-Makum Jn Road residence on Thursday.

TINSUKIA: Premendra Sarma, an active social worker and retired forest range officer of Timber Treatment & Seasoning (TT&S) Plant Makum breathed his last at his Digboi-Makum Jn Road residence on Thursday. He was also an instructor of Makum Forest Guard School. He was 69 and was suffering from terminal illness. Born at Debananda Satra in Bardoulguri Sipajhar in Mangaldai district, late Sharma served as the president of the historic Durga Puja Samiti of Makum which is now celebrating centenary year for more than 20 years and was holding the post of president of the Management Committee of Keshav Baheti Surjudaya Children Home till his death. He was a front ranking activist in the student movement in Assam. He is survived by his wife Lily Goswami Sarma, two sons, a daughter, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. Makum Durga Puja Samiti, Keshav Baheti Surjudaya Children Home, Makum Women and Child Development Centre, Makum Xahitya Xabha, Makum Forest Guard School, Makum TT&S Plant, Makum Press Club, Makum Senior Citizens Association, Aryabhatta Science Centre Hapjan block have expressed deep condolences at his demise.
