Dewkon U-17 School Football Tournament kicks off

GUWAHATI: Dewkon Memorial Inter District U-17 School Football Tournament got under way at the Nehru Stadium here on Tuesday. Former international footballer Durga Boro attended the inaugural function as the chief guest. Other guests present on this occasion were former international footballer Jewel Bay, treasurer of the Assam Football Association Hiren Gogoi, football coach Kamalakanta Singh and the secretary of the Assam Sepak Takraw Association Bishnuram Nunisa. Altogether 18 matches were held on the opening day of the competition.

Results: Goalpara vs Dima Hasao 0-5, Majuli vs Kokrajhar 0-3, Kamrup (M) vs Jorhat 4-0, Darrang vs South Salmara 1-0, Barpeta vs Nagaon 0-3,West Karbi Anglong vs Dhubri 6-0, Dhemaji vs Karbi Anglong 3-2 (via tie break), Golaghat vs Chirang 1-4,Udalguri vs Bajali 5-0, Karimganj vs Lakhimpur 0-6, Dibrugarh vs Baksa 0-3,Charaideo vs Cachar 4-0, Nalbari bt Sivasagar 5-4 (tie break), Sonitpur vs Morigaon 0-4, Biswnath vs Kamrup 4-1, Dima Hasao vs Hailakandi 7-0, Kokrajhar vs Bongaigaon 4-1 and Tinsukia vs Hojai 0-5.
