

GUWAHATI Guwahati are in the driver’s seat against Rangia on day I in the Nuruddin Senior Inter District Cricket Tournament at Goalpara today. Invited to bat, Guwahati declared their first innings 259-5 in 50.4 overs and later they restricted Rangia’s second innings 68 in 22.4 overs. Rangia, forced to follow on, were 81-3 in their second innings at stumps and they were still trailing by 110 runs.
In Guwahati’s first innings opener Sumit Ghadigaonkar (50), captain Saahil Jain (70 no) and Romario Sarma (50 no) scored half centuries. Later Pushparaj Sharma (4-31) and Ujjal Das (3-27) played crucial role to bowl out Rangia for a small total. Pushparaj also picked up 3-30 in the second innings. Chandan Baro (37) was the top scorer for Rangia in the second innings.
