ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh has spent more than Rs 9.49 crore for managing and capacity building against COVID-19 pandemic in the State, an official informed here on Thursday.

The amount was spent from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMFR) on capacity building, procurement of essential equipments and materials, relief to stranded persons and logistics, Secretary to Chief Minister Ameya Abhyankar informed.

Abhyankar, in a certificate of expenditure, stated that an amount of Rs 9,49,56,700 has been utilised as on May 4 last from the CMRF towards capacity building, procurement of essential equipments and materials, relief to stranded persons and logistics by placement of fund to various stakeholder departments responsible for the management and mitigation of COVID-19 pandemic.

On Wednesday, Chief Minister Pema Khandu informed that an amount of Rs 19.89 crore was collected by the CMRF through donations.

Khandu tweeted, "My gratitude to all those generous persons who have contributed in Chief Minister's Relief Fund towards out battle against COVID-19. So far we have received a sum of Rs 19,89,08,644" Arunachal Pradesh had reported one COVID-19 case from Lohit district so far.

The 31-year-old person with travel history to Tablighi Jammat congregation in Delhi's Nizamuddin, was treated at Tezu Zonal Hospital in the district and was discharged from the hospital on April 17.

Meanwhile, a Health department bulletin informed that more than 1000 samples were tested in the State for COVID-19. The daily bulletin informed that 1039 samples were collected in the state till date of which 180 results are awaited.

A maximum of 625 samples were collected from Capital Complex while 111 samples were collected from East Siang district followed by 89 from Namsai and 63 from Lohit districts.
