Early Life:

Bhaskar Jyoti Baruah is a resident of Tanti village in the Jorhat district of Assam. He is from the Indian National Congress party. He is the son of Late Lila Kanta Baruah. His age is about 60 years. He is married to Angshumali Baruah.The couple is blessed with two children.

Education:

He has passed the HSLC (Matric) examination from MES Higher Secondary School in 1975. He passed his Class XII (Higher Secondary) from St Edmund's College, Shillong in the year 1978. The politician completed B.Sc from the same college in 1980.

Career and Politics:

Bhaskar Jyoti Baruah is contesting elections for the first time. The Congress has fielded him from the crucial Titabar seat, a Congress stronghold since 1957 till 2016 (only thrice has the Congress lost this seat in-between). Three-time former Chief Minister of Assam Late TarunGogoi won the seat in the last three consecutive elections including the 2016 Assam Assembly elections. All eyes will be on Baruah and the Titabar seat. Baruah is a tea-planter and a businessman by profession.
