Mrinal Saikia is the son of Gangadhar Saikia and Khageswari Saikia. His place of birth is Jogibari village in Golaghat. He married Juri Saikia in 1992.

Education

He completed his MA in English from Gauhati University in 1990.

Political Career

Mrinal Saikia is a BJP MLA in Assam Legislative Assembly 2016 from the Khumtai constituency.

Social Work

Mrinal Saikia is a PIL activist, and a football enthusiast. He is an avid reader and is an agriculturist by profession. Mrinal Saikia is a social activist who looked into the matter regarding a group of miscreants who encroached property and was involved in anti-social activity in the southern part of Jamurighat. During the floods he provided assistance to rescue stranded people in interior areas of the region. He helped to set up a mobile kitchen.

Controversy

Three FIRs had been filed against the politician for delivering a provocative speech against the anti- CAA protesters. He has no other criminal charges against him as mentioned in the affidavit filed and is not involved in any controversies.
