Shibanath Chetia is a native of Lecenkagaon, Borgaon, in the Tinsukia district of Assam. He is the son of Golap Chetia. Chetia is married to Priyanka Hazarika. They are blessed with a girl.

Shibanath Chetia had his primary education at the Bipin Bora High School and Senairam H.S School, and later completed his higher education at Tinsukia College.
Career and Politics:
Shibanath Chetia holds the President's position at the Indian Youth Congress, Assam. He is also the President of the Tinsukia District Youth Congress. On 9 March, 38 years old, Shibanath Chetia filed his nomination papers for Chabua (No. 121) Constituency with his supporters in Dibrugarh, Assam. It is the first time Shibanath Chetia shall be contesting for the Assam Legislative Assembly polls
