Nazrul Islam Choudhury is from Kanishailin Karimganj district, Assam. He is 60 years old. His father's name is Late Ibrahim Ali Choudhury. He is married to Sahada Begum Choudhury.

Education:

He is Class X (Matric) pass from Karimganj High Madrassa in the year 1976.

Career and Politics:

Choudhury has contested Assam Assembly elections 4 times – 2001, 2006, 2011 and 2016. He lost all 4 times. This is the fifth time he is contesting the Assam elections. This time he is contesting as the candidate of All India Forward Bloc.

In the 2016 Assam Assembly elections, Nazrul was defeated as an Independent candidate by Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha of INC. Nazrul got 1704 votes while Kamalakhya won with 45289 votes.

In the 2011 Assam Assembly elections, Nazrul, contesting as an AGP candidate was defeated by Kamalakhya Dey of INC. Nazrul got 7784 votes while Kamalakhya won with 45027 votes.

In the 2006 Assam Assembly elections, he lost as an AGP candidate to Mission Ranjan Das of BJP. Nazrul got 9647 votes while Ranjan won with 32666 votes.

In the 2001 Assam Assembly elections, Nazrul lost to Mission Ranjan Das of BJP. He was contesting as an Independent. Nazrul got 9074 votes while Ranjan won with 45429 votes.

He has three cases pending against him. The cases are related to unlawful assembly, voluntarily causing hurt, the mischief of causing damage, nonperformance in response to the proclamation, criminal conspiracy and forging a document.
