Anomalies in selection of PM-KISAN beneficiaries alleged in Bajali

PATHSALA: Large-scale anomalies have been alleged in the selection of farmer beneficiaries in the Bajali subdivision of Barpeta district under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN).

The beneficiaries were benefitted with cash assistance of Rs 6,000 for cultivation work in three instalments. But local people, including various organizations, alleged anomalies in the list of beneficiaries. In the list, the same name is repeated twice or thrice. Genuine farmers were allegedly deprived of the benefits of the scheme while other people were shown as farmers.

People have demanded proper inquiry into the anomalies and action against those involved. Mridul Talukdar, president of the Bajali Zila AJYCP, threatened to start strong agitation programme if the authority failed to initiate any probe and punish the people behind these anomalies.

Anupal Dutta Pathak, advocate and president of AAKJSU, demanded CBI probe as crores of rupees had been allegedly misappropriated. Giridhar Choudhury, president of Pathsala Bazar committee and senior advocate, also condemned the scam and demanded inquiry.
