DIBRUGARH: Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS) has vehemently opposed anti labour decision taken by the State cabinet on May 8. Cabinet decision with a sole intention to systematically annihilate the entire labour community of the State was adopted at a time when people of the State have been waging war against CORONA Virus, ACMS secretary Roopesh Gowala stated.

Referring on increase of working hours from 8 to 12 through amendment of Labour Law in Cabinet meeting held on May 8, Gowala said such deceitful and anti-labour decision is tantamount to a deep rooted conspiracy against lakhs of labourers in tea sector as well as other industrial sectors of the country. He further said, this amendment of labour law would certainly boost up a section of management of tea and other small, medium and large industries in exploitation of labourer. Instead of sanctioning special relief package to the industries suffered during lockdown periods, Gowala said, 'Such amendment would benefit industrialists financially than due interest of the labourers'.

ACMS secretary Gowala has appealed the government to reconsider the decision and declared it null and void immediately in the better interest of the labourers. If Government fails to take any steps for its withdrawal soon, there is no option left to labourers of the State except to wage agitation on the road for its repeal; saying this Gowala cautioned the government that they would be liable for law and order situation if any, arise during labourer's proposed decision .
