Assam: 'Special' Train from Delhi to Reach Kokrajhar at 5 PM Today; 10 Passengers to Disembark

Guwahati: The Delhi-Dibrugarh (02424) "special train" that has been arranged to bring back stranded persons to Assam will be arriving at the Kokrajhar railway station around 5 pm in the evening today.

At least 10 passengers will get down at Kokrajhar station and five of those passengers are likely to head to Guwahati city, reports said.

Meanwhile, two separate gates have been arranged for 'entry' and 'exit' in the station and the maintenance of social distancing has been made necessary.

Railway station staff, GRPF, RPF, district administration officials, and health department officials have reached the Station in order receive the train which is carrying passengers from different states of the Northeast Indian region.

What You Need to Know about the Delhi-Dibrugarh Train:

The train will stop at Mariyani, Dimapur, Lumding, Guwahati, Kokrajhar, New Jalpaiguri, Katihar Junction, Barauni Junction, Danapur, Pd. Dd Upadhaya Junction, Prayagraj Junction, and Kanpur Central stations during its both-ways journeys.

Assam Finance and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressing the media yesterday, said: "842 people will get down at the Dibrugarh Railway Station in the train that is scheduled to arrive tomorrow; however, they are not all residents of Dibrugarh. Arunachal Government will take some of its residents to the state in buses", Sarma said.

The Minister also said that ASTC buses will be stationed at the station which will take the returnees to their respective districts after they are screened. "Highly symptomatic patients will not be allowed to board the buses and will taken to hospitals instead", Sarma informed.
