District-level task force meeting on AES/JE held in Chirang

KOKRAJHAR: A district-level task force meeting on Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES)/Japanese Encephalitis (JE) and other vector- borne diseases of Chirang district was held in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office recently. The meeting, organized by National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), Chirang was chaired by Karmadev Brahma, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chirang.

Attending the meeting, senior medical officer Dr DP Ramchiary highlighted the status of the preceding years on JE, malaria and dengue cases in the district and involvement of medical teams in active surveillance of such diseases. The meeting laid stress on inter-sectoral coordination and timely reporting and timely intervention for controlling and preventing of AES/JE cases and the other vector-borne infectious diseases, such as malaria, dengue, plague, and kala-azar. Chirang district has been facing spread of diseases transmitted by mosquitoes during the rainy season every year. Dr. Ratul Chandra Bordoloi, Joint Director, Health Services, doctors and other healthcare workers were also present in the meeting.
