Food items distributed among 1,200 families in Dhubri

DHUBRI: In view of the prolonged lockdown in the red zone district, Dhubri district unit of Akihil Asssam Bhojpuri Parishad (AABP) distributed food materials among the people who live on daily earnings in Dhubri subdivision.

Since last three days, Parishad distributed over 1,200 food packets containing good quantity rice, wheat, dal, mustard oil, soybean, soap, potato and salt in Golokganj area, Gauripur town in Dhubri town.

Talking to The Sentinel, vice-president of the central body of the Parishad, Bhagirath Ojha said that members across Dhubri district had been calling him up to tell him about the pathetic plight of the poor people, mostly daily wage earners. "Despite the government's assistance and food materials being distributed by various social organizations, many people have been deprived. So I instructed members of the Parishad at Golokganj, Gauripur and Dhubri town to prepare a list of the needy people who have not received any assistance," Otha said.

Accordingly, after obtaining permission from the Dhubri district administration, food packets were loaded in mini vans and distributed with the help of active and senior members Devnand Thakur, Ramratan Ji, Ajay Gowala in Golokganj, Gauripur and Dhubri. In all the distribution programmes in Golokganj area, Golokganj BJP legislator and the chairman of Assam State OBC Board, Ashwani Roy Sarkar also took part.

Former president of Dhubri district unit of Parishad and a senior and active member, Dev Kumar said that the Parishad also distributed food among family members of TOTO drivers of Dhubri town. Dhubri district unit president of BJP, Dr. Debamoy Sanyal participated in the distribution of food packets on Monday.
