Move to construct mosque near Doomdooma River opposed by locality

TINSUKIA: Residents of Koliapani under ward no.10 of Doomdooma Municipality foiled an attempt to construct a mosque on a vacant plot of land near Doomdooma River in the locality.

More than 124 inhabitants of the locality in a joint appeal on Wednesday to the Circle Officer Doomdooma, who is also Executive Officer of Municipality, while expressing their apprehension, appealed to the officer not to permit any construction of mosque in the vicinity as only two Muslim families resided in the locality.

Circle Officer Nandita Roy Gohain, after a patient hearing, assured the delegation that she would take necessary action in that regard.
