Prohibitory orders in Dibrugarh district during lockdown period

DIBRUGARH: Keeping in view the Union Home Ministry's directive for extension of lockdown period till May 17 and subsequent directives issued by the State Government on May 3, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ranjit Konwar, as a preventive measure to contain coronavirus in Dibrugarh district, has promulgated Sec 144 under CrPC in the entire district, prohibiting movement of people from 6pm to 6am during lockdown period.

However, essential services related to health, fire fighting, telecom and electricity have been kept outside the purview of the order. Violation of the order is punishable under section 51 to section 60 of Disaster Management Act and section 188 of Indian Penal Code, a DIPRO press release stated.
