DIBRUGARH: Retired employees and staff of Coal India Limited (CIL) in North East Coalfield (NECF), Margherita in Tinsukia district are unable to draw their due pension since the last two months as the Regional Commissioner of Coal Mines Provident Fund (RCCMPF) is out of station. This has created a sense of despair among coal mine pensioners in the wake of lockdown.

Vice-president of National Front of Indian Trade Union (NFITU), Israel Nanda, while talking to The Sentinel over phone, said that all pension and PF related administrative activities of coal mine employees and staffs were performed from its head office of Coal Mines Provident Fund located at Dhanbad. Nanda further said that as there was no permanent commissioner for NECF at CIL, Margherita, the employees and staff of Coal India Limited had to wait for a prolonged period to get their due pension and PF. Nanda lamented that Margherita-based coal mines employees and workers had been deprived of their pension and PF because the Regional Commissioner was out of station. He urged the Regional Commissioner to join his office at Margerita soon and help the poor employees and workers of CIL by releasing their pension and PF without any further delay.
