24 people related to Nizamuddin Markaz test positive for COVID-19 in Assam

GUWAHATI: 24 people related to Nizamuddin Markaz have tested positive for coronavirus in Assam.

812 tests have been carried out on people related to the Markaz out of which 24 positive cases have emerged.

636 negative cases have been reported but after 14 days another test has to be done to confirm.

Nizamuddin is an evolving story, said Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Sarma also asked people who attended the event to report voluntarily so that they can be taken care of. He encouraged them to not hide their travel history and that they will be treated as patients and will be looked after well by health workers.

Sarma said that cases might increase as time goes by. With that testing will also increase.

So far, 1529 tests have been completed in 5 labs in Assam

Out of this, 1308 has come out negative and 25 are positive

196 results are awaited.
