AASAA opposes  hike in auto fares

DEMOW, June 6: Under the leadership of Binanda Chaura, president and Lalit Tanti, secretary of All Adivasi Students Association of Assam (AASAA), Demow Regional Committee, a memorandum was submitted to Demow Circle Officer on June 5. In the memorandum, the AASAA Demow Regional Committee said that drivers of auto rickshaws which travel from Demow to Deroi had increased the fare by themselves. For only 7 km distance, the fare had been increase up to Rs 20 due to which passengers were facing problems. The distance from Sivasagar to Demow is 20 km and the fare is Rs.20 but for a distance of 7 km, charging Rs 20 as fare was not acceptable, stated AASAA, Demow Regional Committee. It has demanded action against the drivers of the autos and that the fares should be decreased immediately.
