Abhijeet, Nilotpal’s brutal killing condemned in Bhopal

MANGALDAI, June 19: The Madhya Pradesh Assam Association organized a candlelight protest in Bhopal on June 17 at MP Nagar to condole the death of the two Assamese youths, Abhijeet Nath and Nilotpal Das, who were brutally killed by a mob after they were mistaken for child kidnappers in Karbi Anglong district. The association has expressed sharp concern that people are being killed after being influenced by rumours and superstition even in this day and age.

“Nilotpal Das was a sound engineer and worked out of Mumbai and Goa, while Abhijeet Nath had his own business. We are saddened by the fact that the two friends, who had gone for a short vacation to Karbi Anglong’s Dokmoka, became victims of fake social media reports and had to lose their lives in such a barbaric manner,” stated the Association.

While condemning such acts of mindless mayhem in the strongest terms, the Association also offered their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the two young men and pray for the everlasting peace of their souls. On this occasion, the MP Assam Association reassured that such stray incidents could not break the unity of the people of Assam. “The bond shared by 16 different communities will continue to grow even stronger every passing day. The collective Assamese community is proud to carry this legacy forward, wherever we are placed, across the globe. Our strength lies in our unity and undivided love for one another and our motherland,” said the Association.
