Awareness drive on protection of nature

KOKRAJHAR, June 7: On the occasion of World Environment Day, the 135 Infantry Bn. (TA), Eco Assam organized a drive to educate the students at Junior College, Bishmuri in Kokrajhar district. In all, three neighbouring schools had participated in the event - Bashbari High School, Jharbari High School and Don Bosco Amguri. A total of 380 saplings of various varieties were planted. In addition, a total of 1,800 saplings were planted in the Central Institute of Technology (CIT), Kokrajhar where in around 512 students along with faculty members participated in the event which was attended by Chaitali Brahma, Registrar of the institute.

The event was organized with the theme ‘Plastic-free Green Environment’. The 135 Infantry Bn. (TA) Eco Assam has been working diligently in Kokrajhar region and their efforts have resulted in the forest area turning green again. Besides their task of plantation, the unit also organizes campaigns and various plantation drives to spread awareness and educate the local population about the benefits of forest.
