Awareness meeting on NRC | 26 Jun, 2018

LAKHIMPUR, June 25: An awareness meeting on the publication of the final draft NRC was held at Tinthengia Gaon Panchayat under Bihpuriya Revenue Circle on Sunday. Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jeevan B, Superintendent of Police Sudhakar Singh, ADC (NRC charge), Bipul Kumar Das, CO of Bihpurya Dipti Marang, and Project Observer Chayanika Borah took part in the meeting which was chaired by Md. Atiqul Islam. The DC appealed to the people not to be afraid if anyone's name was left out in the final draft NRC.

"Applicants who do not find their names in the final draft NRC will get another opportunity by way of submission of claims for inclusion in the final NRC. Opportunity will also be given to file objections against inclusion of any ineligible persons," he stated in the meeting. He added that separate notification would be given in this regard. The Superintendent of Police urged people not to give in to any rumour or fake news regarding the issue. He stressed fair use of social media in this regard and requested them to inform police about any kind of misuse of the same.
