Bhoomi pujan of cancer hospital performed


DHUBRI, June 20: Bhoomi pujan of cancer hospital was performed here in the premises of Dhubri Civil Hospital where construction is going on for Dhubri Medical College. Rituals of bhoomi pujan were performed by Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Ananta Lal Gyani while senior citizens of the district took part in it at the same mahurat (time) of the Bhoomi pujan that was performed centrally in Guwahati. Along with Dhubri, bhoomi pujan was also performed in all other 18 districts where cancer hospitals have been sanctioned. A host of health officials, senior heads of Dhubri district administration, officials of Tata Trusts and leading citizens took part in the programme.

Dhubri is one of the 19 districts of Assam where L-3 multi-specialist cancer hospital will be set up at a cost of Rs. 100 crore jointly by Assam Government and Tata Trusts. “The cancer hospital will be a 150-bed hospital equipped with radiation, chemotherapy and surgery facilities. This hospital will have its own infrastructure and function separately with specialist physicians in this line,” informed Bikash Sarma, Dhubri District Information and Public Relation Officer on Tuesday.

SIVASAGAR: In a welcome step towards improved cancer treatment in Sivasagar district, along with 19 other locations across the State, the bhoomi pujan for the Level 3 cancer care unit under the Assam Cancer Care Foundation - a joint initiative of the Government of Assam and Tata Trust - was performed at the premises of Sivasagar Civil Hospital, Joysagar on Monday in the presence of Pallav Gopal Jha, Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar, MLAs Kushal Duwari and Jugen Mohan, DDC Abhijit Baruah, ONGC Executive Director SD Maske, and other dignitaries. The speakers in their speech mentioned the occasion as ‘a historic day’ for the State in terms of beating the lethal disease. They said that the 50-bedded Level 3 cancer care unit, which would come up due to the initiative of the Government and Tata Trust, would be a boon for cancer patients to avail proper treatment.
