British National dies onboard ferry in Jorhat, old age suspected!

Jorhat: In a shocking incident, a British National died on a ferry while travelling towards Majuli from Nimati Ghat in Jorhat District on Friday.

The person identified as Alastair Neil MacDonald (83) born in Newcastle, United Kingdom was here in Jorhat along with few other tourists for a tour to River Island Majuli.

As per sources, the tourist felt uncomfortable soon after boarding the ferry namely ‘Charaideo’ and was reported dead after a few minutes.

It is suspected that the person had died of old age, said one of the local people.

So far none came forward to claim the body of the person.

Meanwhile, the body was sent for post mortem at Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH).
