BSF apprehends cattle smuggler

GUWAHATI, May 17: Troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force apprehended one Indian cattle smuggler on Tuesday from Indo-Bangladesh border of Gudligaon of South Salmara district. On specific inputs provided by Border Security Force, intelligence team of Dhubri Sector, (Assam), troops of BOP Gudligaon of 6 Bn. BSF deployed in South Salmara district were keeping surveillance and domination over border area. Alerted troops observed suspicious movement of miscreants along with cattle towards IB and challenged them to stop for identification. They did not pay any heed and tried to escape towards Bangladesh along with cattle heads. One of them was apprehended by the troops after pursuit and before crossing the International boundary along with cattle head. Apprehended cattle smuggler has been identified as Majibul Rehman, (40 years), son of Abed Ali of Purana Diara village under Mankachar Police Station of South Salamara district. He has been handed over to Mankachar Police Station for further legal action.

Besides, BSF troops of Guwahati Frontier seized 101 cattle heads having approximate value of Rs. 7,20,795, 126 bottles of Phensedyl worth Rs. 16,065 and 25.2 kg ganja during the month of May, a press release stated.
