Chaygaon MLA lays foundation stone of bridge, road

Boko, May 21: Finally Sampupara-Bhawriabhita will be connected. Chaygaon MLA Rekibuddin Ahmed laid the foundation stone for a bridge and 100-metre road on both sides of the bridge with an allotted amount of Rs 2.5 crore under PMGSY. The MLA also announced that he would start various construction works in Pub Samaria and Goroimari area after Eid with a total amount of around Rs 15 crore, which would improve the communication between Boko and Chaygaon. He also added that after Eid, Tukrapara Gaon Panchayat area would get a gift in the form of the Tukrapara to Choudharypam connecting 9-km long black-topped road to be constructed with an amount of around Rs 9 crore.

Rekibuddin Ahmed called upon the Assam government to increase funding pattern in the tribal belt also for the development of the roads and other infrastructure in the tribal-dominated hilly areas under Chhaygaon LAC in Kamrup district. Ahmed said that three roads in the hilly terrain of Chhaygaon LAC, namely, Bamunigaon-Kahuwa Road (estimated value Rs 10 crore), Mojengbori-Jalukbari Road (estimated value Rs 25 crore) and Bamunigaon-Patgaon Road (Rs 6 crore) were being blacktopped. He said that the construction of the 27-km long Ukium- Chhaygaon road, a hilly road that touches the Assam-Meghalaya border, had already been completed with an investment of Rs 14 crore.
