Citizens’ meet organized

NAGAON, May 17: Just ahead of the publication of final draft of NRC on July 1, the district administration on Wednesday morning organized a general citizens’ meet in the Khagen Mahanta auditorium. In the meet, Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu said that in direct pursuant of the Supreme Court, the process of NRC update was going on in full swing and the final draft of the NRC would be positively published on July 1. Hence some evil power was incessantly trying to create panic so that the entire process might be stopped. Pegu said that the district administration was ready to tackle all the evil powers but he asked for public support and co-operation. He stressed awareness among people. The Superintendent of Police of Nagaon said that the police administration was prepared to tackle evil forces, especially those who misuse social media to spread false propaganda. He too appealed to the public for cooperation as well as support. He said that those who break the law would be punished.
