School Officials accused of trying to terminate the Girl’s pregnancy
New Delhi: In a shocking and heinous incident, a minor girl who was a class 10 student of a boarding school in Dehradun was allegedly gang-raped by her seniors last month and the school staffs are now accused of concealing the crime by terminating her pregnancy with drinks mixed with drugs meant for abortion.
Reportedly, acting on a complaint by the Girl’s family, Dehradun Police have so far detained four students and five officials, including the principal, administrator and hostel caretaker.
The girl, who lived in the hostel, reportedly revealed to her older sister that she was raped after she fell sick. It was found out later that she was pregnant.
According to the 16-year-old victim, she was called to the storeroom by her seniors on August 14, a day before Independence Day, for rehearsals regarding the I-day celebrations where she was allegedly gang-raped by her seniors.
Reportedly, when the sisters went to the school authorities, instead of calling the police, they allegedly threatened to throw them out of the school if they told anyone.
Additional Director General of Police Ashok Kumar told the media that the school management tried to suppress the case. The girl told she reported the case to the ayah the same day. But they tried to dissuade her to report. After a month, the crime has come to the knowledge of police. Even the school officials are accused of trying to terminate the girl's pregnancy by giving her drinks mixed with drugs.
In her complaint, she has named four class 12 boys of her school who had committed the crime.
Meanwhile, the police are investigating into the case and have started to interrogate the accused persons over the matter.
