CM Sonowal orders probe, Lower Assam Commissioner to investigate Kokrajhar Incident

Kokrajhar: On Saturday, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal ordered a probe into the barbaric incident of the Superintendent of Police where he was seen allegedly assaulting the district executive magistrate on last September 10, 2019 midnight.

As informed by the RTI Activist Dulal Bora, Lower Assam Commissioner Meenakshi Sundaram will investigate the matter.

On the other hand, Speaking to The Sentinel Digital, RTI Activist, Dulal Bora said, "I have lodged a complaint against the Superintendent of Police Kokrajhar at CID of Assam Police today morning in connection to the matter and had also called upon the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to order a judicial probe on it."

It may be mentioned that the Kokrajhar District Superintendent of Police, Rajen Singh allegedly assaulted the district executive magistrate executive Sailen Das inside a hotel complex in the midnight hours of September 10, 2019.

The incident came to light after RTI activist Dulal Bora made it public on last Friday i.e on September 20.

The entire incident was captured in the CCTV cameras which were installed inside the premises of a hotel in Kokrajhar.

The video of the incident has now gone viral on social media platforms as well.

Notably, RTI activist Dulal Bora in a press statement further alleged that the Superintendent of Police Rajen Singh and the district executive magistrate Sailen Das had gone out for a dinner in a hotel at Kokrajhar. Things turned ugly between the duo after Das proposed SP Singh to sing a song with him to which he refused leading to a heated verbal duel between the two.
