Demow: Sensation triggered at Demow area under Sivasagar District on Friday morning after several students of Demow College staged a road blockade at National Highway 37 following an incident where a girl student was allegedly attacked by a woman with a glass bottle on last Wednesday.
As per reports, a girl student of Demow College visited a studio for an online registration work when she reportedly got involved in a heated argument with a lady which turned violent. Later, the girl student was allegedly attacked by the lady and ran away from the spot.
The girl student was immediately shifted to Demow Civil Hospital for better medication.
Following the incident, students of Demow College under the aegis of students’ organizations like ATTSA, AASU, ATASU gheraoed the Demow Police Station demanding justice.
Looking after the tensed situation, police officials of Demow Police station on Wednesday assured the student originations for a speedy investigation and arrest of the culprit within the next 24 hours. Things turned ugly after the police department failed to apprehend the suspected culprit leading to a massive road blocked on Friday afternoon leading to traffic congestion for at least 2 hours.
It may also be mentioned that a case was also registered at Demow Police Station in connection to the incident.
Meanwhile, Additional Superintendent of Police of Sivasagar District Bolin Deori and District Magistrate Monoroma Morang reached the protesting spot and brought down the situation under control by assuring them for a speedy investigation into the matter and arrest of the culprit as soon as possible.
