DHUBRI, June 27: Meetings from district level to booth level are being held across Dhubri district to create awareness among the people not to get worried even if their names do not find place in the second draft of NRC update slated to be published on June 30. A subdivisional-level meeting with field level officials engaged in NRC update works chaired by the Dhubri Deputy Commissioner was held in the Dhubri District Library Auditorium on Monday. Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Anant Lal Gyani, while appealing to field-level officials engaged in NRC update works, said that vigorous campaign from block to booth level must be launched to create awareness among the people not to get carried away by hearsay or to panic even if their names did not figure in the second draft of NRC update. “There is no need to panic or worry for all the genuine Indian citizens if their names do not figure in the second draft of NRC update as sufficient time will be given to them to file and submit their claims and objections in the next phase. So in the final draft, all the names of genuine Indian citizens will be included. This is a vital and important message which must be communicated to the people,” Gyani pointed out to the NRC field officials. Gyani appealed to the officials to communicate with the people not to lend their ears to the rumours doing round and assure them of fair update of NRC where names of all Indian citizens would figure in the final draft.
