Bokajan: The sudden release of Chandan Kumar Singh and his turning up at their ancestral home in Bihar has remained murky and created confusions about the actual circumstances that culminated his disappearance from Bokajan on December 14 last.
A ransom call demanding Rs 1 Crore was made the following day for his safe release.
Karbi Anglong police had launched a massive investigation to comb the scrub behind the abduction.
Initially, it appeared to be a clear case of abduction but cracks soon began to appear and police noticed that something was amiss.
It may be mentioned that a viral 'WHATS AAP' message reportedly sent by Chandan to his relatives stating that he was undergoing financial constraints and has incurred a debt of over Rs 3 Crore in his business popped up.
Now, as per the above mentioned WHATSAPP MSG, it is clear that Chandan had allegedly faked his own kidnapping and tried to extort money from his family and relatives. However, the circumstances as to what transpired the fake abduction attempt are yet to be figured out.
It may further be mentioned that Chandan might have also realized that his fabricated abduction and extortion attempt has been foiled and would be arrested in consequence and hence flew to his ancestral home in Bihar to evade arrest.
