Tezpur, June 21: One of the senior journalists of Tezpur received financial assistance from the Government of Assam under the ‘Journalist Medical Welfare Scheme’. Director of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Government of Assam, Rajib Prakash Baruah on Thursday handed over a cheque of Rs 50,000 to senior journalist Rana Goswami at circuit house in the presence of journalists of Tezpur. Goswami has been suffering from prolonged malignant cancer and is under medical treatment at the Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute, Guwahati. The Journalist Association of Tezpur praised Baruah for presenting the cheque in such a short notice.
