Flood situation in Dhakuakhona, Gogamukh RC remains grim

LAKHIMPUR, June 26: The flood situation in Subansiri Revenue Circle (RC) under Dhakuakhona subdivision remained the same on Monday. Flood caused by rivers like Karha, Sampora and Bolahi washed away the wooden bridge on the Marnai-Babejia and Ghilamora connecting PWD road, affecting the north-west area of the subdivision. The flood caused by these rivers has assumed devastating attitude in the area washing away another wooden bridge on Basudev Than and Ghilmora connecting road, as a result of which the communication along this road has been cut off between Basudeb Than and Ghilamora. The washed away bridge caused damage to one of the posts of Bhimpora RCC bridge. Floating bio-matter and whirlpool has caused tremendous threat to the existence of this RCC bridge. The subway for the unplugged part of the Bardaibam and Bebejia connecting road at Majigaon was also washed away by flood as a result of which people have to communicate with small boats in this area.

On the other hand, more than 10 academic institutions located in the 15 flood-affected villages under Gogamukh Revenue Cirlcle remained closed. The half-yearly examination could not be held in these schools. A total of 30 students are taking shelter in the flood relief camp at Majigaon LP School along with their family members.
