Gang of ATM thieves busted in Charaideo, Three held

Sonari: In a major breakthrough, Charaideo Police arrested three ATM thieves who attempted to loot an Axis Bank ATM centre in Moranhat under Charaideo District.

As per reports, a gang of four thieves was involved in various ATM theft cases for the past several months in various areas of Upper Assam.

Interestingly, the mastermind of the gang of ATM thieves identified as Partha Pratim Baglary, a mechanical engineer by profession and son of head constable of Sivasagar Sadar Police station was arrested along with two more thieves identified as Keshab Mech and Puranjan Borbaruah, however, the fourth gang member was reported absconding. All the arrested thieves hail from Dibrugarh District.

Speaking to the media, Charaideo police informed that on July 30, 2019, the gang of four thieves attempted to loot the Axis Bank ATM centre in Moranhat under Charaideo District, the police patrolling team nearby also gave a chase, but, taking the advantage of darkness managed to flee from the spot.

What is more filmy, here is the intelligent Police team managed to note down the car registration number, upon verifying the car bearing registration (AS 06U 9950), interesting facts came to light.

Firstly, police came to know that the Mastermind is the son of a head constable, secondly, he is a Mechanical Engineer who hails from Borbaruah area under Dibrugarh District and thirdly, the entire gang was engaged in several ATM theft cases in Upper Assam for the past few years.

Meanwhile, Charaideo police are in the hunt for the fourth thieve who is reported absconding soon after the arrest of the other three gang members from Dibrugarh on Wednesday.
