Gaurav Gogoi calls NEDA conclave ‘flop’

GOLAGHAT, May 21: Kaliabor MP Gaurav Gogoi reacted to the 3rd NEDA conclave held in Guwahati while he was taken part in a protest rally against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in Dergaon on Monday. He said the NEDA meeting was a ‘total flop’ as major burning issues of Assam were ignored. BJP national president Amit Shah had hurt the sentiments of the people of Assam with his silence on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. Union Minister Rajen Gohain had exposed the anti-Assam Accord mindset of the BJP and the lack of importance of AGP. “The reputation of AGP is at stake, it should quit the BJP and stand with the people of Assam. The Congress will continue fighting for the people of Assam. We want to see development on the ground not in the speeches of Himanta Biswa Sarma. When will the panchayat elections be held? When will the final list of NRC be completed? How many new embankments will be built on the river Brahmaputra? All these remained unanswered in the NEDA conclave,” said Gogoi.
