Gauripur MLA ‘assaults’ Gram Sevak, threatens BDO

KOKRAJHAR, May 23: Legal action is being initiated against Gauripur MLA Nijanur Rahman, who along with his colleagues, physically assaulted the Gram Sevak of Debitola Development Block and threatened the Block Development Officer (BDO) who carried out inspection of developmental schemes in the area of dire consequences.

Sources said on Tuesday, the complainant Mamila Rabidas (59), BDO of Debitola Development Block, lodged an FIR against the Gauripur MLA for manhandling his staff who were inspecting various development schemes under Debitola Block. During inspection of Naba Kumar Dong (a canal) at Debitola, Nijanur Rahman allegedly used force on him and physically assaulted one of his colleagues, Dipjyoti Sarkar (55), who is the Gram Sevak of Debitola Block. It is alleged that the MLA and his men also threatened the complainant and his staff with dire consequences. A case has been registered at Kazigaon Police Station under Porbhotjhora subdivision in Kokrajhar district and legal action is being initiated.
