Girl of Class VII Poisons School’s Midday Meal

A female student of seventh standard allegedly tried to murder all the students of her school yesterday. The incident took place in the village of Baulia, which comes under Bankata police station. The girl poisoned the lentils; however, her attempt was discovered before the consumption of the poisoned food by anyone.

The attempt at mass murder was done as an act of revenge for the murder of her brother attempted by a fellow student on 2nd April. Her brother was a third standard student. The alleged student has been sent to a juvenile home.

IPC section 328, related to causing hurt through poison, has been registered against the girl by the police in Deori district. The police has reported that the villagers beat up the mother after the crime of the girl was discovered.

“Preparations are being made to send her to a juvenile home,” said Devendra Singh Yadav, Bankata SHO. The principal of the government high school had registered the case. As per the complaint, a school cook, Radhika, seeing the girl sneaking into the kitchen, followed her and discovered a white layer on the ‘daal’ and also that the girl had smelly hands. Locking up the girl in the kitchen with some help, she informed the principal, Bhrigunath Prasad.

The police as well as a team from the food safety and drug administration were there for proper investigation. The girl and the mother have been detained.
