Governor Jagdish Mukhi Appoints Prof Pratap Jyoti Handique As New VC of Gauhati University

GUWAHATI: The Governor of Assam and Chancellor of the Gauhati University Prof Jagdish Mukhi has appointed Prof Pratap Jyoti Handique as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Gauhati University with effect from the date of taking over charges. He shall hold his office for a period of five years or till he attains the age of 70 years whichever is earlier as per provision under the Gauhati University Act, 1947, as amended up to date. Presently, Prof. Pratap Jyoti Handique is presently Professor in the Department of Bio-technology, Gauhati University, stated a release.
