Guwahati-Kolkata flight makes emergency landing at LGBI Airport

Guwahati: A GoAir flight operating between Guwahati and Kolkata made a safe emergency landing at the LGBI Airport in Borjhar.

The aircraft (GH 546) carrying 157 passengers was forced to land following a technical glitch.

On Saturday, another GoAir flight (G8 174 ) between Pune and Delhi had to return to Pune airport, 20 minutes, after a bird hit the plane post takeoff.

In a press statement, a GoAir spokesperson said, "Flight G8 174 did an air turn back to Pune following a bird-hit. The aircraft landed safely at Pune airport. It was inspected and rectified by a GoAir engineering team. Alternate flight arrangements were made to accommodate the passengers… GoAir regrets the inconvenience caused to its passengers," said a GoAir spokesperson in a press statement.

"As it was a Saturday, the runway was closed from 11 am to 5 pm due to maintenance work. The passengers of this flight were given the option to wait for another flight in the evening or opt for a refund of the fare," a GoAir official said.

On December 23, GoAir had cancelled 18 flights from Mumbai, Goa, Bengaluru, Delhi, Srinagar, Jammu, Patna, Indore and Kolkata, following a shortage of aircraft and crew members.

Due to CAA protests throughout the country, many flights in different parts of the country have been affected.

In the capital itself, the traffic jam was noticed which impaired mobility on several fronts.
