Hardcore ULFA(I) cadre apprehended in Tinsukia, Huge Cache of Arms & Ammunition Recovered

Tinsukia: Based on a specific input of ULFA(I) targeting security forces/vital installations in current festive season, a joint operations led by Tinsukia police (inclusive of 210 Cobra Bn team 68Bn CRPF) with 23 Punjab Bn Army, 21 PARA(SF) was launched wherein multiple check posts were operated within Tarani area under Pengeree PS.

At around 1530 hrs today noticed a suspicious movement of an individual with a backpack near the Chikarajan area. On seeing the police party and security forces the suspected person tried to flee but was chased and apprehended.

On interim interrogation, the apprehended person identified himself as SS Sgt ULFA(I) Sabdo Asom @ Jonki Borah s/o Dipak Bora, age 29 yrs r/o Maj Mamorani Village under Digboi PS and revealed that he was tasked to target security forces and vital installations through bomb blasts on an immediate basis.

Following explosives and items were seized and recovered from his person as per procedure:-

2x Electric detonator, 2x IED circuit, 3x Battery set 9.6 V (6 battery each ), 1 x remote control with 9 V Sony brand battery, 1x insulation Tape (red colour), 1x Duct tape, 2x loose cable set, 12 Kg approx TNT explosive in 3 packets, 1x utensil, 1x Torch, 1x Backpack, 1x Handbag.

Details follow. Necessary legal formalities initiated.
