Illegal Teak Wood seized during Naka Checking in Kokrajhar, Two Trucks Detained

Kokrajhar: Based on specific information from reliable sources, on Friday at about 3:30 am, Naka checking was conducted in front of Bogribari PS of Kokrajhar district and during checking, 02 (two) no. of trucks bearing Registration No.UP-25CT/4855 & UP-25TC/7678 were detained.

On thorough checking, it was found that the trucks were carrying illegal Teak wood to be smuggled to Siliguri, West Bengal. Also it was found that the illegal Teak wood was loaded in Dimapur near Khatkhati and to be taken to Siliguri West Bengal, and not loaded in Jorhat as per the challan produced by the drivers of the trucks.

The seven persons were identified as (1) Md. Shahid, age 49 yrs, PS-Jahanabad, UP (Driver of the Truck UP25CT/4855 ) (2) Md. Jubair, age 19 yrs, PS Jahanabad, UP (Handyman) (3) Jashua Tigga, age 20yrs, PS-Bokajan, Karbi Anglong (Guide) (4) Md. Imran, age 20 yrs, PS-Sishgarh, UP (Driver of truck UP-25TC/7678) (5) Karam Uddin, age 32 yrs, PS-Sishgarh, UP ( Other driver) (6) Istikar, age 18 yrs, PS-Sishgarh, UP (Handyman) and (7) Livion Soreng, age 21 yrs, PS-Bokajan, Karbi Anglong(Guide) have been apprehended.

Another accused namely, Anil Toppo of Vill-Tolbalijan, PS-Bokajan, Karbi Anglong is yet to be apprehended. A case is being registered in Bogribari PS of Kokrajhar district and further investigation is on to unearth the nexus.

In a case of fraud registered by complainant Rishi Nath Narzary R/O Village-Nepalpara under Serfanguri PS of Kokrajhar district, accused Lalit Rana, age-38yrs., S/O Late Nor Bahadur Rana, R/O Village-Dalsingpara, Dist-Alipurduar, West Bengal was apprehended by Kokrajhar Police from Dalsingpara, P.S-Joypur, Alipurduar, West Bengal who had earlier duped the complainant for an amount of Rs. 1.8 lacs when he had given the said amount for repairing parts of his Fokland machine.

During Police raid in search of accused in Village-Dalsingpara, Alipurduar, West Bengal, both the accused along with parts of Fokland engine was recovered and seized accordingly. This refers to Serfanguri PS Case No. 50/2019 U/S 420 IPC.
