Indian monsoon begins with a bizarre outbreak of lightening

The monsoon season in India began with a storm of lightening on 25th April 2018. According to meteorological instrument maker Vaisala Inc, about 37,000 bolts sparked across the sky or crash into the ground in just 13 hours.

Ron Holle, a Vaisala meteorologist in Tucson, Arizona said that lightening from powerful thunderstorms that wash across India and its neighbouring countries pose a great risk to the farmers. Holle further shared that Vaisala’s network tracks about 2 million strikes around the globe each day and about 2 billion annually.
