Kerala Flood: Tripura announces Rs 1 crore relief for flood victims

Agartala: The ruling Tripura Government of the Bharatiya Janta Party and Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (BJP-IPFT) has decided to donate Rs 1 crore for the victims of Kerala Flood.

Minister of Law Ratan Lal Nath said that it was decided in a convention of the State Cabinet on Monday.

The State Cabinet members gathered in the meeting condoled the demise of Former Prime Minister and BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee and observed a minute's silence for the departed soul.

Adding that although the meeting was for official purposes, the cabinet members who were at the office of Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb cumulatively decided to donate the amount to flood-hit Kerala.

“Flood has ravaged large parts of Kerala in the past few days and people have died. Many are in distress. Our government has decided to donate the money for their relief”, Ratan Lal Nath said.

The devastating Kerala flood has resulted in 9 lakhs families seeking shelter in relief camps and death of more than 200. Around 38,000 families have been rescued.
