KMSS Protest Against Industrialists at Nagaon; Warned not to use Cultivable Lands for Non-Agricultural Purpose

Nagaon: Opposing Industrialists attempt to use Agriculture lands of Nagaon's Ghahi region in non-agricultural Purposes, the Ghahi Wing of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samittee (KMSS) today staged a protest on the four-lane highway at Ghahi, Nagaon. The protesters shouted slogans against Industrialist and BJP led government.

Protesters demanded immediate steps from the state revenue department and Agriculture department in this regard.

As informed to the media persons by a KMSS activist, "some industrialists had bought around 5000 bighas of agriculture lands from the farmers of Ghahi area a few years back.

In that time, they made a commitment to the farmers that the lands would not be used for non-agricultural purposes. But unfortunately, they have broken their commitment and started initial works of Commercial Construction in the said lands which led the farmers to come to the street and protest.

Later, the Raha Police and Circle officer of Raha reached the spot to tackle the situation. The KMSS unit gave a memorandum to Raha circle officer to be forwarded to state Revenue minister.
