Man hacked to death

Biswanath Chariali, May 24: A sensational murder came to light on Tuesday at Panibhoral village under Biswanath Chariali Police Station in Biswanath district in which Purnakanta Bora (76) was hacked to death with an axe by some of his family members three months back. To cover up the murder, the daughter along with other members of the family buried the body in the backyard of their house. Later, the family filed a missing report of Bora at the Biswanath Chariali Police Station. However, the neighbours got suspicious over the matter and reported to police. Starting their investigation, the police managed to dig out the body of the deceased from 20 feet beneath the ground in the backyard of the house on Tuesday. The police arrested all the members of the family, including the deceased’s son and daughter.

The local people alleged that the family members sold some of his properties at Dhenukhona near Biswanath Ghat for crores of rupees after Bora’s death. Bora was against selling the properties. On the other hand, the daughter alleged that her father was trying to sexually assault her.
